Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a team developing an augmented reality vision system for soldiers, integrating sensors, compute, and rugged packaging for wearables in tactical environments.

Responsibilities include prototyping, evaluation with autonomy, and meeting stringent SWAP-C constraints while optimizing comfort and usability. U.S. security clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• BS, M.Eng, MS or PhD in an engineering field.
• 5+ years post-grad mechanical engineering experience.
• CAD skills and ability to manage complex parts and drawings.
• Detailed mechanical design for prototype to production with metals/composites.
• Ergonomics and human factors for wearable devices in tactical use.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Mechanical Engineer in this role will be part of a team developing a new augmented reality vision system that combines cutting edge multi spectral sensors, compute, thermal management, and ballistic protection for soldiers in the Army. A successful candidate will have experience with military specifications and wearable systems. They will pursue prototyping and evaluation efforts with a high degree of autonomy meeting stringent SWAP-C requirements while balancing human factors and comfort with packaging needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & CRITICAL COMPETENCIES

• BS, M.Eng, MS or PhD in an engineering field

• 5+ years post-grad professional Mechanical Engineering experience

• CAD skills (any platform) and ability to manage complex parts and assemblies, and produce high quality engineering drawings

• High competencies with:

  • Detailed mechanical design for: traditional and additive manufacturing from prototype through production with metallics and composites
  • Ergonomics and Human Factors: Designing for comfort, fit, and usability to ensure the wearable devices are effective for prolonged wear in tactical environments
  • Structural/Thermal Analysis: Ability to perform first order analyses to inform trade studies and concept designs
  • Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of techniques for fabricating and assembling materials, including molding, laminating, and machining
  • Thermal and Environmental Considerations: Understanding how temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors affect materials and performance

• Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Consumer electronics packaging and design, design for cameras, displays, SoC integration, and ruggedization
• Experience with a military qualification programs including a deep understanding of MIL-STD requirements
• Experience with NX/Teamcenter, including FEA extensions
• Experience rapid prototyping and iterating with 3D printed assets

US Salary Range

$129,000—$190,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril’s total compensation package.
