Job summary

Anduril Industries is developing an augmented reality vision system and wearable devices for soldiers, combining sensors, compute, thermal management and ballistic protection. You will contribute to prototyping, evaluation, and production planning with a focus on meeting SWAP-C requirements and user comfort.

The role requires 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, strong CAD skills, and the ability to work with MIL-STD programs. Eligibility for a U.S. security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• CAD skills (any platform) and ability to manage complex parts and assemblies, and produce high quality engineering drawings.
• Detailed mechanical design for prototype through production with metallics and composites.
• Ergonomics and Human Factors: Designing for comfort, fit, and usability for prolonged wear in tactical environments.
• Structural/Thermal Analysis: First order analyses to inform trade studies and concept designs.
• Manufacturing Processes: Fabricating and assembling materials including molding, laminating, and machining.
• Thermal and Environmental Considerations: Temperature and humidity effects on materials and performance.
• Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Mechanical Engineer in this role will be part of a team developing a new augmented reality vision system that combines cutting edge multi spectral sensors, compute, thermal management, and ballistic protection for soldiers in the Army. A successful candidate will have experience with military specifications and wearable systems. They will pursue prototyping and evaluation efforts with a high degree of autonomy meeting stringent SWAP-C requirements while balancing human factors and comfort with packaging needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & CRITICAL COMPETENCIES

• BS, M.Eng, MS or PhD in an engineering field
• 5+ years post-grad professional Mechanical Engineering experience
• CAD skills (any platform) and ability to manage complex parts and assemblies, and produce high quality engineering drawings
• High competencies with:
  • Detailed mechanical design for: traditional and additive manufacturing from prototype through production with metallics and composites
  • Ergonomics and Human Factors: Designing for comfort, fit, and usability to ensure the wearable devices are effective for prolonged wear in tactical environments
  • Structural/Thermal Analysis: Ability to perform first order analyses to inform trade studies and concept designs
  • Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of techniques for fabricating and assembling materials, including molding, laminating, and machining
  • Thermal and Environmental Considerations: Understanding how temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors affect materials and performance
• Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Consumer electronics packaging and design, design for cameras, displays, SoC integration, and ruggedization
• Experience with a military qualification programs including a deep understanding of MIL-STD requirements
• Experience with NX/Teamcenter, including FEA extensions
• Experience rapid prototyping and iterating with 3D printed assets

US Salary Range

$146,000 — $170,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
