Job summary

Brooks Automation, a leader in semiconductor automation, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the mechanical design of vacuum robots and related electromechanical systems in a high‑tech environment.

You will mentor engineers, perform design reviews, and collaborate across software, controls, and manufacturing to ensure robust, cost‑effective solutions and successful production transfers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of experience designing robotics, automation equipment, or precision electromechanical systems.
• Experience leading technical projects or acting as a subsystem owner.
• Semiconductor capital equipment experience strongly preferred.
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of vacuum robots.
• Design precision electromechanical systems, motion platforms, end effectors, and material handling mechanisms.
• Develop verification plans, risk assessments, and design documentation.
• Drive product development through Brooks' stage-gate process.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews and tradeoff analyses.
• Collaborate with software, controls, electrical, and systems teams to optimize performance.
• Support product transfers to manufacturing and ramp activities.
• Drive Design for Excellence (DFX) initiatives including DFM, DFA, DFR, and DFC.
