Job summary

Lumicity is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead development of advanced hardware, focusing on vacuum systems and precision assemblies. You will translate concepts into prototypes and manage integration across CAD, analysis, and fabrication teams.

The role requires hands-on design work, strong CAD/FEA skills, and experience with high-precision hardware in engineering environments. On-site work and secure facilities experience are advantageous.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with vacuum systems or precision mechanical hardware.
• Strong 3D CAD skills using SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar.
• Experience with FEA, structural, or thermal analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex, high-precision hardware from concept through prototype and testing.
• Interpret existing engineering documentation and update CAD models/drawings.
• Collaborate with fabrication partners and suppliers for assembly and testing.
• Turn designs into functional prototype hardware and drive design improvements.
