Zusammenfassung

Lumentum is seeking a Mechanical Component Engineer to own the selection, qualification, and lifecycle management of mechanical components used in optical, telecom, and related products. You will work with Mechanical Design, R&D, Supplier Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, and suppliers to meet design, performance, quality, reliability, cost, and long-term availability requirements.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Five+ years of experience in mechanical component engineering, design, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes used in precision electromechanical, electronic, or optical products.
• Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, material standards, and inspection reports.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, stamping, molding, casting, extrusion, plating, surface finishing, and mechanical assembly.
• Working knowledge of tolerance analysis, dimensional control, metrology, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience reviewing material certifications and supplier quality documentation.
• Ability to manage environmental exposure, vibration, thermal cycling, corrosion, and long-term operation risks.

Aufgaben

• Collaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality to drive manufacturability into mechanical component design and selection.
• Own Component Engineering activities for mechanical components, including technical requirements, selection, qualification, lifecycle management, reliability, and engineering change assessment.
• Collaborate with R&D and Supplier Quality to drive manufacturability into component design, specifications, and selection.
• Define and review component specifications, drawings, CTQs, tolerances, and acceptance criteria to ensure robust and manufacturable designs.
• Lead technical qualification of new and alternate mechanical components, including validation.
• Partner with Supply Chain on alternate-source development, providing technical qualification and risk assessment.
• Assess component performance, materials, processes, tolerance stack-ups, and reliability risks.
• Evaluate PCNs, EOLs, material changes, and engineering changes for impact.
• Lead problem-solving and failure analysis for component issues with Supplier Quality.
