Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for central utilities and district energy to lead planning, assessment, and design of utility plants and steam infrastructure at healthcare, higher education, government, and industrial facilities.

You’ll analyze steam systems, develop PFDs/P&IDs, and prepare cost estimates while advising clients on reliability, resiliency, and decarbonization. You will mentor designers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams throughout projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of related experience in central utility plants and district energy
• Licensed PE or ability to obtain licensure by comity in the hiring state
• Ability to lead planning, analysis, and design of medium- and high-pressure steam systems
• Strong knowledge of codes including ASME B31.1, NB, NFPA, IMP Codes
• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, and sequences of operation
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Office

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, assessment, and design of central utility plants and district energy systems
• Develop master plans, feasibility studies, and condition assessments
• Produce calculations, layouts, PFDs, and P&IDs; define control strategies
• Sign and seal engineering documents as Engineer of Responsible Charge
• Mentor engineers and designers; support business development
