Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Upstream Engineering Team in Canonsburg, PA. The role supports design and execution of ironmaking, steelmaking, continuous casting, and related heavy industrial equipment across North America.

The ideal candidate has ~5 years of mechanical engineering experience and can own engineering work packages while coordinating with international teams, suppliers, customers and site personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Approximately five years of mechanical engineering experience in steelmaking, ironmaking, continuous casting or heavy industrial equipment.
• Experience using 3D CAD systems and engineering drawing tools (Solid Edge preferred, AutoCAD).
• Experience with finite element analysis tools (ANSYS preferred).
• Ability to interpret specifications, standards and supplier documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Engineer in planning, coordinating and executing engineering scopes.
• Serve as technical focal point for equipment packages or plant areas, coordinating with centers, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Develop mechanical design packages, specs, calculations, drawings and BOMs.
• Ensure deliverables meet safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
• Perform design reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure quality and consistency.
• Coordinate activities across global engineering teams and external partners.
• Evaluate supplier proposals and verify compliance with project requirements.
• Support customer meetings, site investigations and project kick-offs.
• Participate in design reviews, risk reviews and project execution reviews.
