Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join our Upstream Engineering Team in Canonsburg, PA. You will support the design and execution of ironmaking, steelmaking, continuous casting, and heavy industrial equipment projects across North America.

The ideal candidate has approximately five years of mechanical engineering experience and is ready to take ownership of engineering work packages while coordinating with international teams, suppliers, and site personnel to assume

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Approximately five years of mechanical engineering experience in steelmaking, ironmaking, continuous casting, or heavy industrial equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineered equipment systems.
• Experience developing and reviewing drawings, specifications, calculations, and BOMs.
• Proficient with 3D CAD and engineering drawing tools; Solid Edge and AutoCAD preferred; ANSYS experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Engineer in planning, coordinating, and executing engineering scopes.
• Act as technical focal point for equipment packages, coordinating with centers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Develop mechanical design packages, drawings, calculations, BOMs, and documentation.
• Ensure deliverables meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets.
• Lead design reviews, provide technical guidance, and coordinate with global teams.
