Job summary

MBARI in Moss Landing, CA, is seeking a mid/senior level mechanical engineer to work on underwater robotics, sensing, and sampling projects. The role emphasizes independent work and collaboration with EE/SE colleagues, involving concept development, detailed design, and deployment of instruments and vehicles.

Qualifications

BSME with a minimum of 5 years related experience.

Responsibilities

Develop concepts and requirements for underwater systems collaboratively with science and operations staff.
Design complex mechanical systems from concept level to deployment of instrument, vehicle or platform.
Document engineering designs, as well as integration and test plans.
Interface with vendors and suppliers to manage equipment/component specification and purchase.
Participate in internal project proposals and technical design reviews.
