Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work onsite in State College, PA, focusing on ultrasonic and eddy current transducers. You will design mechanical products, supervise designers, and collaborate with product management to fulfill custom design requests.

The role includes sustaining projects for production and improving documentation in PLM. The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree with substantial design experience, strong leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of design experience; Masters/PhD with 0–2 years experience considered.
• Proficiency in mechanical design tools (SolidWorks).
• Knowledge of ultrasound test and measurement applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to mechanical design of transducers and manufacturing.
• Manage technical risks of development under responsibility.
• Ensure production cost objectives are met and oversee design reviews.
• Approve parts and assembly plans.
• Define validation protocols for mechanical components.
• Support transfer to production and updates to manufacturing documents.
