Senior Mechanical Engineer/Technical Lead (Healthcare & Pharmaceutical) – Remote (PA, DE, NJ Preferred)
A leading engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as a technical leader on complex design-build projects within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in delivering high-performance mechanical systems for mission-critical facilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering efforts on healthcare and pharmaceutical design-build projects, from concept through construction.
- Serve as the technical authority, overseeing mechanical system design, engineering standards, and quality assurance.
- Manage and mentor engineering staff and coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams including electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Provide technical review of designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and code compliance.
- Support project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and client communications.
- Develop project proposals, including scope definition, design approach, resource planning, and cost estimating.
- Represent the firm during client meetings, design charrettes, and on-site construction reviews.
- Ensure adherence to healthcare and pharmaceutical design standards, including cGMP, FDA, USP 797/800, and ASHRAE guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with at least 5 years focused on healthcare or pharmaceutical facilities.
- Proven experience delivering design-build projects from planning through occupancy.
- Deep understanding of HVAC, chilled water, steam, cleanroom, and ventilation systems.
- Strong knowledge of relevant building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated success in leading design teams, managing client expectations, and delivering high-quality technical work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and mechanical system modeling tools preferred.
