Axon in Sterling, VA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead design and integration of advanced hardware. You will own mechanical design, CAD modeling, prototyping, and system integration for durable products used in critical applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven mechanical design and system integration experience.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360).
• Hands-on prototyping with fabrication tools.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Understanding of heat transfer, EMI, and shock/vibration.
• Experience with thermal/structural analysis simulations.
• Familiarity with MIL-STDs and harsh-environment design.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovative product development from concept through manufacturing.
• Lead ideation of new product architectures for subsystems and systems.
• Construct and analyze high-fidelity proof-of-concept prototypes.
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis for function via FEA, tolerancing, testing.
• Collaborate with domestic and international stakeholders.
• Document design specs, production processes, and compliance requirements.
