Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a Special Emphasis Programs (SEP) Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) Program Engineer. The role provides engineering assessment, oversight, and support to meet contractual SUBSAFE requirements across multiple submarine classes, including new construction and shipyard follow-up.

The position requires a BS/MS in Mechanical or Marine Engineering, 5+ years of postgraduate experience, and willingness to work nights or weekends as schedules demand;

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
• 5+ years of postgraduate engineering experience.
• Willingness to work nights or weekends to support Ship schedules.
• Position may require travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering assessment, oversight, and support to meet SUBSAFE contractual requirements.
• Work across multiple submarine classes including New Construction, Planning Yard, and Follow Yard support.
• Develop SUBSAFE Program design products including instructions and procedures.
• Technical and programmatic assessment of SUBSAFE ER/CN for SSDR deliverables.
• Support Ship Specific Certification Audits and NAVSEA functional audits.
