Key People is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support and improve mechanical systems in a demanding steel/heavy industrial environment. Responsibilities

• Partner with Maintenance and Operations to troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Identify equipment issues and lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support and manage melting and steelmaking equipment, including upgrades and installations.
• Provide engineering expertise for large baghouse and environmental systems.
• Lead capital and facility improvement projects from concept to completion.
• Develop project scopes, specifications, bids, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Evaluate suppliers and contractors, review proposals, negotiate contracts, oversee outside resources.
• Coordinate with internal teams to keep projects moving forward.
• Manage projects to budgets, schedules, safety requirements, and performance.
• Assist Director of Steelmaking Technology with specialized projects.
• Provide hands-on support during installations, shutdowns, etc.
• Travel locally and internationally as needed.
• Maintain commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
