Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a mechanical engineer to support the M-290/M140 Design and Analysis Unit in Reactor Servicing Systems. You will perform mechanical system and hardware design, and finite element analysis to advance the program's mission and spent fuel shipping solutions.

You will collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers, and shipyards to deliver results through design and implementation cycles that can range from weeks to months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field with 6+ years of experience, or
• Master's degree with 4+ years, or
• Doctorate with 1+ year, or
• Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the Company.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical system and hardware design.
• Conduct finite element analysis (FEA).
• Support the fleet of spent fuel containers.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, PMs, and shipyards.
