Job summary

ICON in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive Off-Planet Robotics hardware. You’ll design aerospace mechanical elements, perform trade studies, and bring concepts to flight.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience designing aerospace or equivalent mechanical systems.
• Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools.
• Ability to earn trust and contribute to an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to robotic platform development for construction applications.
• Design and prototype using in-house and external fabrication.
• Specify robotic actuators for aerospace applications and rover-based systems.
• Run FEA and CFD analyses for safe, reliable space hardware.
• Provide hands-on support and integrate solutions in an agile cycle.
• Create design solutions with solid documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to procure, fabricate, test, and fly hardware.
• Conduct daily tasks including transition between office and field work.
• Establish team goals aligned with company OKRs and mentor engineers.
