Job summary

Axiom Space in Webster, Texas| Space Station Development Facility (SSDF) is seeking an SME Mechanical Engineer to lead design, development, test, and evaluation of structural and mechanical components for the first commercial space station.

You will apply FEA, GD&T, and NASA-style standards while mentoring junior engineers and guiding the product lifecycle from concept to manufacturing, delivering high-quality results on aggressive schedules.

Qualifications

12+ years of mechanical engineering experience in mechanisms, mechatronics, or space-related fields.
Strong knowledge of static/dynamics, structural analysis, fatigue, and thermal effects.
Experience from concept to manufacturing, with verification/validation strategies.
Proficient in CAD/FEA tools and engineering drawings per GD&T.

Responsibilities

Own design, development, test, and evaluation of space station mechanical components.
Lead the engineering product lifecycle with regular design reviews.
Onboard customer requests, develop requirements and design criteria.
Perform FEA and hand analyses; produce models, drawings, and documentation.
Oversee manufacturing and assembly of hardware; ensure quality.
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across teams.
