Job summary

Bellwether Coffee, headquartered in Berkeley, CA, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own substantial mechanical design efforts for critical subsystems. You will collaborate across Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing to deliver scalable, reliable products.

You will lead prototypes, define architecture, and ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals. On-site in Berkeley, with overseas travel opportunities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in consumer products, appliances, or electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong CAD and design-for-manufacturability experience.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical subsystems from concept through manufacturing.
• Define system architecture, component selection, and tradeoffs for performance and durability.
• Create CAD models, assemblies, and drawings with GD&T annotations.
• Design components for manufacturability, cost efficiency, scalability, and serviceability (DFM/DFA).
• Build and test prototypes to validate function, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Develop engineering requirements, test plans, and documentation to support development and validation.
• Lead design reviews and production readiness activities.
• Collaborate with suppliers, fabricators, and manufacturing to meet quality and schedule.
