A rapidly growing tech scale-up in San Luis Obispo is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join as a strategic hire, leading the design, development, and optimization of next-generation products. With a world-class engineering team already shipping products at scale, you will play a critical role in shaping mechanical systems, driving engineering excellence, and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems for next-generation products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development, ideally in mission- or safety-critical industries (MedTech, Automotive, Aerospace)
• Proficiency in CAD systems, including 3D modeling and drawing generation (SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent)
• Experience in FEA, DFM, and stress analysis to ensure robust and manufacturable designs
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, make critical design decisions, and optimize systems for performance, reliability, and scalability
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on manufacturability, materials selection, and high-performance product design
