Job summary

Brooks Automation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Massachusetts to lead vacuum robot design and drive mechanical architecture from concept through production. You will develop precision electromechanical subsystems, coordinates with software, controls, and electrical teams, and mentor engineers on key projects.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of robotics or automation experience; semiconductor capital equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing robotics, automation equipment, or precision electromechanical systems.
• Experience integrating mechanical systems with controls, sensors, actuators, and embedded software.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of vacuum robots.
• Design precision electromechanical systems, motion platforms, end effectors, and material handling mechanisms.
• Generate engineering specifications, verification plans, and design documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams.
• Collaborate with software, controls, electrical, and systems engineering to optimize performance.
• Drive Design for Excellence initiatives including DFM, DFA, DFR, and DFC.
