Job summary

Kadir.ai is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for an early-stage robotics company focused on humanoid robots and learning systems. You will own mechanical systems from concept to manufacturing, and design compact, reliable manipulation hardware in a hands-on lab environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years building electromechanical hardware, strong GD&T skills, and demonstrable end-to-end engineering judgment across mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams. On-site in New York City.

Qualifications

• Five+ years building electromechanical hardware.
• Experience designing robotic manipulators, joints or transmissions.
• Advanced GD&T knowledge and tolerance analysis.
• Expert CAD and PDM workflow proficiency.
• Hands-on hardware build, testing and validation experience.
• Understanding of manufacturability and production readiness.
• Ability to work with mechanical, electrical, controls and manufacturing teams.
• Ability to work full-time and onsite in New York City.

Responsibilities

• Develop robotic mechanisms from concept to validated prototypes.
• Design actuated joints, transmissions, structures and end effectors.
• Integrate motors, sensors, actuators and structural components.
• Perform detailed machine design, GD&T, and material selection.
• Build/test prototypes and investigate failures for improvements.
• Validate performance, durability and manufacturability.
• Create drawings, specs, BOMs, and assembly docs.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, firmware, software and manufacturing teams.
• Work with suppliers to move prototypes toward production.
• Make design tradeoffs on weight, strength, packaging, cost, and performance.
