Job summary

Aescape is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own critical mechanical subsystems on our robotic platform. You will take subsystems from concept through design, analysis, prototyping, and validation, and carry them into production alongside our contract manufacturer and key suppliers.

This is a hands‑on role on a small, senior hardware team; you will design, build, and test your own work, and stay with it through manufacturing bring‑up and into the field.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years in electromechanical design.
• Owned mechanical subsystems through full product development lifecycle.
• Deep CAD/analysis experience and strong familiarity with manufacturability.
• Hands‑on builder who prototypes and tests hardware in lab and factory.
• Cross‑functional collaboration with Electrical, Firmware, and Controls teams.
• Excellent communication and pragmatic decision‑making under ambiguity.
• Nice to have: high‑volume consumer electronics product experience.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical subsystems from concept to production release.
• Perform design validation using FEA, kinematics, dynamics, and tolerances.
• Design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost targets.
• Develop fixtures and assembly processes with suppliers and CM.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams during development and transfer to manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot field and manufacturing issues and drive root cause.
• Prototype, instrument, and test new concepts and inventions.
• Travel as needed, including to NYC for supplier engagements.
