Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Strategic Projects team within the Core Hardware Org. You will contribute to the entire product lifecycle from concept to commercialization of automated systems.

You will lead complex structural designs for mobile robots, perform FEA and tolerance analysis, and collaborate with electrical, software, controls, manufacturing and QA teams to ensure integration and success. Travel up to 20% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong foundation in mechanical design principles and electromechanical systems.
• Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks) and FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys).
• Experience selecting and integrating motors, sensors, and actuators.
• Experience with machining, casting, sheet metal, plastics.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex structural systems for mobile robots.
• Perform analysis and optimization to balance performance, cost and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, controls, manufacturing and quality teams.
• Identify and troubleshoot design challenges and drive continuous improvement.
• Create dimensional drawings per ANSI Y14.5 with GD&T and manage BOMs/ECOs in PLM.
• Participate in prototyping, testing, and iteration of designs.
• Travel up to 20%.
