Job summary

Mercury Systems in Chantilly, VA is seeking a mechanical engineer with 4+ years of experience to join a small, collaborative team focused on rugged server designs. You’ll design, analyze, test, and package subsystems, including thermal management and complex fixtures for production environments.

The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration, documentation, and a path toward security clearance, with opportunities to influence hardware through all stages from concept through production

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Understanding of heat transfer and thermal management.
• Knowledge of traditional and additive manufacturing techniques.
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with material control processes and documentation (Agile, Oracle, EPDM).
• Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
• Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Must be able to obtain a government security clearance; U.S. citizen required.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical packaging design for electronic subsystems and servers; ECAD support and testing.
• Collaborate with Hardware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement.
• Guide products from concept through integration, test, and production release.
• Design mechanical hardware and systems for rugged military applications.
• Create complex fixtures to support testing and manufacturing.
• Create models and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Support verification testing, including thermal, airflow, vibration, and environmental tests.
• Coordinate procurement of prototype materials for form, fit, and function.
• Draft test plans, inspection reports, and manage BOMs/ECRs.
