Draper in Cambridge, MA seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to develop ruggedized electro-mechanical systems and autonomous mechanisms for demanding environments. The role spans the full design lifecycle—from concept exploration and trade studies through prototyping and testing to final delivery—working in a cross‑disciplinary team.

Requires 15+ years of mechanical design experience and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred); eligibility to obtain a government security

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience or full lifecycle mechanical design.
• Experience with ruggedized, high-performance mechanisms and testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design concept exploration, trade studies, prototyping, and testing with limited guidance.
• Define design approaches and independently execute assignments.
• Contribute high-quality content for technical reports and presentations.
• Identify design risks and communicate them to project leadership.
• Other duties as assigned.
