Job summary

Applied-Research-Associates, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, prototype, and integrate complex mechanical systems for defense applications.

You will work hands-on with CAD, CFD, and system-level reviews while clearly communicating engineering decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The position is on-site in Panama City, FL, with potential hybrid options and periodic travel to Newport, RI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of related work experience; graduate degree/research may partially fulfill the experience.
• Proficiency in CAD and CFD modeling software; design analysis experience.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required; DoD Secret clearance desired.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, implement, and analyze mechanical products and systems using applied engineering principles (solid/fluids/heat transfer).
• Perform design evaluations on weapons systems.
• Conduct tolerance and functional analyses.
• Procure, assemble, and test advanced prototypes to inform design decisions.
• Prepare and present designs at design reviews.
• Develop requirements for hardware and verify performance.
