Job summary

Newcomb & Boyd in the Raleigh-Durham area seeks a Mechanical Engineer III to design electrical building systems and oversee complex projects. You will lead junior engineers, review designs and submittals, and coordinate with clients to ensure technical excellence and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 6+ years in AEC industry with MEP experience.
• PE licensure preferred or 15+ years experience in lieu.

Responsibilities

• Delegate moderate tasks and provide guidance to team members.
• Lead discipline-specific design for medium to large projects with limited Revit use.
• Review and direct complex designs, calculations, and simulations.
• Review complex submittals and shop drawings.
• Respond to complex RFIs.
• Conduct targeted site visits to resolve critical issues.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation.
• Participate in project meetings, offering high-level technical input.
• Ensure project delivery meets schedule and budget targets.
• Support workplan development and adjust for scope/schedule changes.
• Serve as technical advisor and mentor to junior engineers and co-ops.
