Newcomb & Boyd, a multi-discipline engineering firm in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, is looking for an Electrical Engineer to design electrical building systems and support MEP-T projects.

Engineer I is an entry-level professional role, providing exposure to design, analysis, and implementation under close supervision, with limited client interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• EIT certification preferred or in progress.
• Familiarity with Revit and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and development of MEP-T systems using Revit and modeling software.
• Perform basic calculations and simulations under guidance.
• Review submittals and shop drawings.
• Draft responses to RFIs for senior staff.
• Attend site visits under supervision and support project delivery.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation.
• Participate in internal project meetings and provide technical support.
• Stay current with MEP engineering trends.
• Submit work for review before client delivery.
• Work primarily in office with some site visits.

Engineer I is an entry-level professional responsible for supporting engineering tasks under close supervision. This role provides exposure to the design, analysis, and implementation of MEP-T systems for various projects. While client interaction is limited, the position may involve basic correspondence and participation in meetings with senior engineers. Success in this role depends on producing accurate, timely work that supports overall project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of MEP-T systems using Revit and discipline-specific modeling/calculation software.
• Perform basic calculations and simulations under guidance.
• Assist in reviewing product submittals and shop drawings.
• Draft initial responses to RFIs for review by senior staff.
• Conduct site visits under supervision to assess project progress.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation.
• Participate in internal project meetings, offering technical support as needed.
• Stay current with industry trends and MEP engineering advancements.
• Complete assigned work within project workplan timeframes.
• Submit work for review by senior engineers before client delivery.
• Primarily office-based with occasional project site visits requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of PPE.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Familiarity with Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and building systems.
• Reliable, accountable, and receptive to feedback.
• Ability to follow directions and learn new concepts quickly.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs. Site visits may involve uneven surfaces, ladders, and varied weather conditions.

Education & Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, or Communications Engineering.
• EIT certification preferred or in progress.
