Whelix is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Boston, MA to own the mechanical design of our robotic platforms and drive production-readiness. This on-site role reports to the CTO and involves travel to customer labs.

You will lead mechanical design from motion systems to enclosures and safety interlocks, collaborate with electrical and software teams, and manage BOMs and supplier relationships for first production batches.

Qualifications

• 6+ years designing precision electromechanical products, with at least one from prototype to production.
• Expert CAD user with tolerance stacks, GD&T and drawings.
• Motion systems experience: linear axes, belts, screws, bearings, servo/stepper integration.
• Enclosure and safety design: interlocks, guarding, E-stop.
• DFM/DFMA and supplier management for low-volume production.

Responsabilités

• Standardize platform designs for production with drawing packages and GD&T.
• Engineer for reliability in continuous lab operation: motion, cable and fluid management, sealing.
• Build modular architecture with shared interfaces for scalable products.
• Lead assembly, integration and validation, and root-cause field failures.
• Own BOM, suppliers and lead-time plan; qualify contract manufacturers for first production batch.
