Job summary

Redwood Materials seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support pilot projects and commercial scale production operations. The role leads capital equipment initiatives, tooling design, and transfers new processes to manufacturing. Expect to collaborate across the engineering teams and drive continuous improvements.

The position is full-time, located at our Reno, NV facility, with a mix of office and production work environments. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• B.S. or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–7 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Prior experience leading capital acquisition processes.
• Experience with industrial scale processes and equipment, including automation.
• Detail oriented with analytical problem-solving approach.
• Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Technical writing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the specification, procurement, and implementation of capital equipment.
• Design tooling and fixtures.
• Review and provide input on new process/equipment designs.
• Partner with mechanical development team to transition processes/equipment into manufacturing.
• Create and own process work instructions and SOPs.
• Train manufacturing personnel on new processes and equipment.
• Analyze process data and metrics to drive safety, quality, and cost improvements.
• Troubleshoot and solve process and equipment issues.
• Identify and execute continuous improvement projects.
