Job summary

Gems Setra, part of Ralliant, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Boxborough, MA to own the mechanical architecture of precision HVAC sensors. You will design for robustness, integrate with electronics and firmware, and lead reliability testing in mission-critical environments.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years (or Master’s with 5+ years) and strong CAD/FEA capabilities, plus experience with manufacturability and IP-rated housings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s with 5+ years.
• Experience in sensor design for HVAC/building automation.
• Strong CAD and FEA skills with emphasis on robustness in harsh environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components for HVAC and environmental sensors.
• Create CAD models, drawings, GD&T, and tolerances for manufacturability.
• Perform FEA and thermal analyses to validate robustness.
• Lead prototyping, environmental qualification, and reliability testing.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Firmware, Test Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
• Drive VAVE and design improvements across the product lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership for NPI and sustaining engineering.
• Lead DFMEA for new and existing products.
• Manage multiple small to mid-sized engineering projects.
