Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with power generation expertise for a hybrid role spanning Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Minneapolis, MN, or Phoenix, AZ. You will serve as discipline lead on power generation, central plant, and energy infrastructure projects, setting technical directions and overseeing design tasks.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions and mentor junior staff throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience level: Experienced
• Minimum 5 years of experience
• Education: Bachelor's (required)

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical client liaison and align engineering efforts across structural, electrical, civil, and I&C disciplines
• Perform detailed calculations, equipment sizing, system hydraulic modeling, and pipe stress analysis
• Prepare engineering reports, cost estimates, technical equipment specifications, and detailed drawing packages
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and 2D/3D designers through conceptual and detailed design development
• Conduct site visits for observations and advise construction teams on field conditions, sequencing, and constructability

Job type: Contract

Salary: $70 - 85 per hour

Work hours: 8am to 4pm

Education: Bachelors
