Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Generation) to join our Power & Energy team in Houston, TX, with consideration for New York, Seattle, Boise, Overland Park, Atlanta, Oradell and Mt. Laurel locations.

The role involves advanced mechanical design for power generation facilities, P&IDs, and project leadership across diverse projects. Ideal candidates will have a Mechanical Engineering degree, 10+ years of experience, a professional engineer license, and strong proficiency with

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
10+ years of post-education experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities.
Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD.
Working knowledge of SmartPlant 3D or CADWorx.
Experience using Caesar II or AutoPipe.
Experience using Thermoflow.

Responsibilities

Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities.
Develop P&IDs for power plant systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, fuel gas, hydrogen, and utilities.
Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment (heat recovery steam generators, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, pumps).
Coordinate with drafters, designers, and engineers; review progress and results.
Mentor staff and provide oversight on projects.
Lead larger-scale mechanical engineering projects, manage budgets, and supervise subcontractors.
