Job summary

TKDA seeks a Project Manager / Professional Mechanical Engineer to lead heavy industrial projects from facility design to demolition, focusing on ventilation, dust collection, HVAC and piping. You will guide multidisciplinary teams and ensure technical quality and safe, cost-effective execution.

Based in Bloomington, MN or Duluth, MN, this hybrid role requires 10–20% travel. The Bloomington base pay ranges from $110,500 to $135,000, with incentives and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Professional Engineer with ten or more years of progressive technical design experience with an emphasis on design of industrial ventilation and dust collection systems, HVAC and/or pumping and process piping systems.
• Prior experience designing systems for mining or heavy industrial facilities.
• Prior experience managing multi-discipline projects with service fees in excess of $300,000.00 per year.
• Previous experience coordinating design standards and requirements with other disciplines, including architecture, civil, electrical, and structural.
• Previous experience conducting construction administration responsibilities including observation and inspection.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to apply effective verbal and written communication skills when writing specifications, preparing technical reports, contributing to or leading project team discussions, and participating client consultations and interviews.
• Ability to travel as requested for project assignments (up to 10%); Occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License with an ability to maintain a driving record that is in compliance with company requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams for a variety of projects ranging from facility design to demolition and from balance of plant to material handling.
• Manage all technical, quality, and financial aspects of a project from conception through construction.
• Assist with market development by collaborating with managers and leadership to develop business plans, maintain client relations, develop proposals, and participate in client presentations.
• Scope project requirements, lead design efforts, verify calculations and validate equipment sizing and selection, develop detailed drawings, and draft technical specifications and reports.
• Mentor and develop less experienced team members.
