Hunter Recruiting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support a major capital project at a chemical facility in the Kansas City, MO area. The role focuses on piping systems, mechanical design, and project execution, collaborating with the Lead Mechanical Engineer and a multi-disciplinary team.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in mechanical engineering and industrial piping, with knowledge of codes, standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 12+ years of professional engineering experience.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical codes, standards and piping.
• Expert CAEPIPE pipe stress analysis experience.
• Experience with piping system installation, startup and commissioning.
• Ability to travel and work onsite during construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key member of the capital project team and support the Lead Mechanical Engineer throughout project execution.
• Develop and review piping layouts, equipment arrangements, piping specifications, and mechanical design packages in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and site requirements.
• Assist with establishing project design requirements and developing estimates for mechanical and piping disciplines.
• Evaluate piping designs to ensure they meet process, operability, maintainability, reliability, and safety objectives.
• Support the development of construction and fabrication packages, including engineering drawings, vendor documentation, and technical specifications.
• Assist with project engineering documentation, design reviews, and project closeout activities.
• Support project commissioning, equipment checkout, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
• Provide technical oversight and engineering support to mechanical and piping contractors.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams, project stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and site personnel throughout the project.
• Ensure engineering activities are completed in accordance with applicable HSE requirements, engineering standards, codes, and project procedures.
• Provide technical support during different phases of the project, including design, construction, startup, and commissioning.
