Job summary

KellyMitchell is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s team in Missouri. The role focuses on supporting mechanical and piping engineering from design through startup and commissioning, with frequent onsite travel.

You will contribute to piping layouts, equipment arrangements, pipe stress analyses with CAEPIPE, and oversight of contractors, ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards throughout project execution.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 12+ years of engineering experience.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical codes and industry piping standards.
• Expertise in CAEPIPE pipe stress analysis software.
• Experience in piping system installation, startup, and commissioning.
• Collaborative team player across hierarchies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• HSE-driven mindset and safety standards compliance.
• Ability to travel onsite; travel frequency varies by project phase.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a project team member.
• Develop and review piping layouts and design packages per codes.
• Support design requirements and assemble estimates for mechanical/piping.
• Ensure designs meet safety, operability, and maintainability goals.
• Develop construction/fabrication packages with drawings and vendor data.
• Support documentation per engineering processes.
• Assist commissioning and checkout; provide contractor oversight.
