Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. The Mechanical Engineer should have extensive experience supporting mechanical and piping engineering projects from design through construction, startup, and commissioning. They will support piping layouts, equipment arrangements, specifications, design packages, pipe stress analysis, and contractor oversight while ensuring compliance with industry codes, safety standards, and project requirements. They will collaborate closely with engineering teams, vendors, and contractors throughout project execution.

Core Responsibilities

• Participate as a project team member
• Assist in the development and review of piping layouts, equipment arrangements, piping specifications, and design packages in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and site requirements
• Assist lead mechanical engineer in development of project design requirements and assemble estimate information for mechanical / piping discipline
• Ensure piping designs meet process, operability, maintainability, and safety objectives
• Assist in project construction/fabrication package development including drawings, vendor data and specifications
• Assist project design and close out documentation per the engineering execution process
• Assist project commissioning and checkout
• Assist and provide technical oversight of mechanical and piping contractors

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• B.S. or M.S. Mechanical Engineering
• 12+ years of engineering experience
• Broad knowledge of mechanical codes and industry piping standards
• Expertise in CAEPIPE pipe stress analysis software
• Experience in piping system installation, startup, and commissioning
• Collaborative team player capable of working well with people across all hierarchies internally and externally, including leadership
• Good interpersonal skills such as communication, listening, verbal, and assertiveness
• HSE driven mindset and willingness to follow safety and engineering standards guidance
• Ability to travel onsite.
• Time required onsite will vary based on project phase. Will likely be 1 day per month onsite early in the project and up to 5 days a week onsite during the startup and commissioning phase.

Work Environment

• Location: St. Louis and or Kansas City, MO
• Contract through October 2029
• During the design phase (next 6 months), the person in this role would be expected to travel onsite to Kansas City around 2 days a month.
• During the construction phase, they are expected to be onsite at least 1 day a week in Chesterfield.
• By the end of the project, the Startup and Commissioning phase, they would likely need to be onsite 4-5 days a week, for the last 3-4 months of the project.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $52.00 and $75.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
