Advantage Point Group, Inc. (APG) seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Facilities Design Team in Minnesota. You will design HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems for industrial and commercial environments, with collaboration across architectural, structural, electrical, and fire protection disciplines.

This full-time role emphasizes construction project experience. Candidates should have PE licensure or be working toward it; E.I.T. applicants are encouraged.

Qualifications

• BSME degree required and PE registration fast-tracked or pursuit supported.
• 5+ years designing mechanical building systems for commercial/industrial facilities.
• PE license or interest to become licensed soon; E.I.T. candidates encouraged.
• AutoCAD and/or Revit proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct heating & cooling load analysis.
• Review Test & Balance reports and ensure air balance and room pressurization.
• Design spaces and size equipment such as AHUs, FCUs, exhaust fans.
• Develop plumbing plans with riser diagrams.
• Generate mechanical plans, schedules, equipment specs and drawings.
• Provide input on scope of work and fees for proposals.
• Attend client site and hybrid meetings; perform fieldwork and document conditions.
• Collaborate with contractors to troubleshoot installation issues.

Job Overview

Advantage Point Group (APG) is looking to add a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary Facilities Design Team. This role involves engineering and designing HVAC, plumbing, utility piping (compressed air, nitrogen, vacuum, etc.), and other mechanical systems for industrial and commercial environments. You will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, including Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, and Fire Alarm-Security Systems experts.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OR MACHINE DESIGN POSITION. MUST HAVE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT EXPERIENCE.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct heating & cooling load analysis.
• Review Test & Balance reports and ensure proper air balance and room pressurizations.
• Design spaces and size/select equipment such as AHUs, FCUs, exhaust fans, and exhaust extraction arms.
• Develop plumbing plans with riser diagrams.
• Generate mechanical plans, schedules, equipment specifications, design details, and construction documentation.
• Provide input on the mechanical scope of work and fees for engineering proposals.
• Attend client project site meetings and hybrid meetings.
• Perform fieldwork and site observations to document existing conditions and update drawings.
• Collaborate with contractors to troubleshoot or resolve installation issues.

Required Qualifications:

• BSME degree
• 5+ years of experience designing mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) for commercial or industrial facilities
• Ability to get a Professional Engineering license (PEregistration) or interest/ability to become licensed soon.
• E.I.T. candidates encouraged to apply.
• AutoCAD and/or Revit proficiency

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Rate: $40-80per hour depending upon previous experience and qualifications.
• A typical work week is 45 hours per week. Overtime is NOT mandatory but possible depending on project type andsize. Time and a half is paid for over 40 hours per week.
