Job summary

DisruptXtalent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the SW Portland area to tackle real-world industrial and process facility challenges. You’ll bridge design, client strategy, and on-site execution to deliver heavy‑duty engineering solutions beyond narrow disciplines.

The ideal candidate has a Mechanical PE license, hands‑on field experience, and strong skills in piping, flow and structural calculations, with solid client communication and project leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial manufacturing or process facility design.

Responsibilities

• Process & piping design: develop P&IDs and perform flow/pressure/heat transfer calculations; size piping, pumps, and valves.
• Mechanical systems: compute force, power, and structural calculations for mechanical, fluid, and pneumatic systems.
• Client & project leadership: drive scoping, site visits, proposals, and presentations alongside Project Managers.
• Field coordination: work directly in operating industrial plants to coordinate with owners, vendors, and multi‑disciplinary trade teams.
• Estimating: develop comprehensive BOMs and accurate cost estimates.

Are you a practical, hands‑on Mechanical PE who prefers the plant floor to a cubicle? We’re seeking a versatile Senior Mechanical Engineer based in the SW Portland area to solve real‑world technical challenges for complex industrial and process manufacturing facilities.

You will bridge the gap between engineering design, client strategy, and active job‑site execution—delivering practical, heavy‑duty engineering solutions without being boxed into a narrow discipline.

Key Responsibilities

• Process & Piping Design: Develop P&IDs, perform flow/pressure/heat transfer calculations, and size piping, pumps, and valves.
• Mechanical Systems: Execute force, power, and structural calculations for linked mechanical, fluid, and pneumatic systems; support material handling and conveyance design.
• Client & Project Leadership: Drive project scoping, site visits, proposals, and technical presentations alongside Project Managers.
• Field Coordination: Work directly in operating industrial plants to coordinate with owners, vendors, and multi‑disciplinary trade teams.
• Estimating: Develop comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and accurate cost estimates.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Credentials: Active Mechanical PE license (Oregon held or easily obtained via reciprocity). Civil PEs with strong process/hydrology backgrounds welcome.
• Experience: Proven background in industrial manufacturing or process facility design. Hands‑on trade experience or field construction oversight is highly valued.
• Core Skills: Ability to execute dynamic/static force calculations, basic piping/automation awareness, and client‑facing communication skills.
