Job summary

Industrial Design in Chandler, AZ seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of building systems within a multidisciplinary A&E environment. You will deliver safe, compliant, and constructible solutions coordinating with architecture, structure, electrical, and process disciplines from concept through construction administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Active PE license required.
  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience in an A&E, consulting engineering, semiconductor, industrial facility, or commercial building environment preferred.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical load calculation software.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical system concepts and detailed design calculations for HVAC, plumbing, piping, ventilation, chilled/hot water systems, mechanical equipment sizing, and other building systems as assigned.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables including mechanical plans, sections, details, schedules, and specifications.
  • Perform heat load calculations, duct sizing, hydronic sizing, and other mechanical system modeling as relevant to project scope.
  • Coordinate design efforts with Architecture, Structural, Electrical, Process Engineering, and other stakeholder disciplines to ensure system integration.
  • Review submittals, respond to contractor RFIs, and support Construction Administration activities.
  • Conduct site visits and field verifications as needed to gather existing conditions, evaluate equipment layouts, and validate installation requirements.
  • Apply current building codes, mechanical standards, and jurisdictional requirements to all design work (i.e., IMC, IBC, ASHRAE, state/local codes, etc.).
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness of assigned work packages and design documentation.
  • Participate in design review meetings, coordination meetings, internal quality checks, and project milestone reviews.
  • Provide technical insight and recommendations to enhance system efficiency, maintainability, safety, cost, and constructability.

Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides technical design, engineering support, and coordination for mechanical building systems within a multidisciplinary Architectural & Engineering environment. This role focuses on delivering safe, compliant, efficient, and constructible mechanical design solutions that meet project requirements, applicable codes, and client expectations. The Mechanical Engineer collaborates closely with internal Architecture, Structural, Electrical, Process, and other engineering disciplines to ensure alignment across all project phases from conceptual design through construction administration.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical building systems, equipment selection, and system integration.
  • Ability to interpret architectural layouts, structural drawings, and multidiscipline design documents.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical design documentation (Revit preferred).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with ability to assess field conditions and recommend solutions.
  • Capable of managing deadlines and prioritizing multiple tasks in fast-paced project environments.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to collaborate across disciplines and with external partners.
