Job summary

American Innovations helps customers keep their field operations running. We seek a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical architecture for rugged IoT hardware and outdoor-rated housings, ensuring reliability and field fit.

You will drive tooling, GD&T, and DFMEA while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include leading design-for-injection-molding, producing production records, and validating enclosures for harsh environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years taking electronics-containing products from concept through production tooling.
• Experience with plastic injection-molded enclosures for outdoor/industrial electronics.
• Hands-on CAD experience producing production drawings with GD&T.
• Experience with harsh-environment qualification (IP65/NEMA 4X).

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical architecture for next-gen IoT hardware across RMUs, devices.
• Design plastic housings, battery compartments, antenna windows for outdoor installs.
• Create 3D concepts packaging PCAs, radios, batteries into compact housings.
• Produce complete mechanical design records: CAD, prints, BOMs, GD&T.
• Lead design-for-injection-molding and tooling release as final approver.
• Plan and execute mechanical verification/validation for harsh environments.
