Job summary

System One is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Vessels & Structures) in Corvallis, OR for a contract role. You will perform design and stress analyses of pressure vessels and primary equipment supports according to ASME BPVC Section III, generating NSSS component requirements for an ALWR module.

You will mentor junior engineers, lead technical efforts, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues while ensuring compliance with NQA-1 and NRC guidelines. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, ABET-accredited.
  • At least 10 years of full-time relevant engineering experience using ANSYS for stress analysis per ASME BPVC.
  • Proficiency with ANSYS and CAD packages.
  • Experience with ANSYS APDL, Matlab, or Python preferred.
  • Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear pressure vessel design standards.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, planning and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams; manage large projects with minimal oversight.
  • Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Design and stress analyses of pressure vessels and primary equipment supports per ASME BPVC Section III.
  • Generate technical requirements for NSSS components of an ALWR module.
  • Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical lead within NSSS Component Engineering.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues and improve design processes.
  • Review and approve engineering documents and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME NQA-1 and NRC guidelines.
  • Conduct evaluations of components for pressure, mechanical/thermal loading.
  • Use ANSYS and CAD tools for analysis and design optimization.
