Job summary

System One is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of reactor structures for a next-generation IV advanced nuclear reactor program. The role focuses on high-integrity equipment design under ASME Section III and related regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will lead design solutions, certify DS/DR, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on certification, licensing, and supplier oversight.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; MS may substitute for 2 years of experience.
• Active P.E. license is required.
• Experience with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section III.
• Proven experience certifying DS and DR for nuclear components.
• Experience in finite element stress analysis and mechanical analysis methods.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Travel 0–5%.

Responsibilities

• Certify Design Specifications (DS) and Design Reports (DR) for reactor components.
• Serve as Certifying Engineer and sign certifications as required.
• Maintain knowledge of ASME Section III and NRC regulations.
• Design reactor structures from requirements to final design.
• Coordinate inputs from project teams to develop robust solutions.
• Interface with analysis teams for stress evaluations.
• Oversee supplier activities and provide technical direction.
• Present results at design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
