Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of industry experience for Bachelor's degree; higher degrees reduce required experience accordingly.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing and testing complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
• SolidWorks proficiency with manufacturing drawings.
• Experience with various manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, injection molding, 3D printing).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and chemistry interfaces.
• Proficiency with machine shop tools and rapid prototyping equipment (CNC mills/lathes, laser cutters, 3D printers).
• Bias for action and development of next-generation life science instrumentation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to operate in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Drive R&D of sub-systems including electro-mechanical, pneumatic, thermal, fluidic, and consumable technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and manage critical technical interfaces.
• Own top-level and sub-system requirements, concepts, CAD, ordering, assembly through verification, integration and troubleshooting.
• Lead high-level cross-functional design reviews and drive alignment.
• Manage design deliverable timelines and contribute to project planning.
• Create and maintain design and test documentation: requirements, BOMs, schematics, test plans/reports, analyses, presentations.
• Contribute to technical strategy with data-driven architectural recommendations.
• Present progress and trade-offs to stakeholders with clear articulation of impact.
