Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Naval Power Systems team in Menomonee Falls, WI. You will help design the mechanical backbone of next-generation power and propulsion systems for the U.S.

Navy and allied fleets, tackling hard engineering problems with real-world impact. You will lead design, analysis and test activities across mechanical packages, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with electrical, systems, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree a plus.
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience in defense/aerospace or regulated industries.
• Experience leading cross-functional design, analysis, and test teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and analysis for naval power conversion and energy storage from concept to qualification testing.
• Own 3D models, drawings, tolerances, and GD&T using CAD/PLM tools.
• Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analysis (FEA) to meet MIL-STD and naval specs.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and manufacturing to integrate mechanical designs.
• Support prototyping, test planning, and root-cause investigations during qualification and environmental tests.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews and proposals.
• Interface with customers and Navy stakeholders on requirements and trade-offs.
