Job summary

Salient Motion, Inc. is seeking a versatile Engineer to lead the development of mission-critical hardware for aerospace and defense, owning the full lifecycle from concepts to flight hardware.

You will translate requirements into robust designs, craft rugged avionics enclosures, and drive environmental qualification to DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards, working cross-functionally in Hawthorne, CA. Qualifications

• Translate high-level mission needs into actionable requirements for complex electromechanical systems.
• Prototype and test actuators, gears, bearings, lead screws, encoders, and braking systems.
• Architect rugged avionics enclosures with advanced thermal management for extreme environments.
• Plan and execute environmental qualification to DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards.
• Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with suppliers to ensure conforming hardware.

Responsibilities

• Translate high-level mission needs into actionable functional and operational requirements for complex electromechanical systems.
• Design and iterate on electromagnetic actuators and mechanisms, integrating gears, bearings, lead screws, braking systems, encoders.
• Develop avionics enclosures with thermal management and survivability in extreme environments.
• Architect test equipment and methodologies for hardware qualification per DO-160 and MIL-STD-810.
• Act as technical anchor across org, guiding integration and testing across teams.
• Collaborate with external suppliers to maintain quality and schedule for hardware.
