If you\'ve worked in the Gulf Coast Oil & Gas corridor—especially with companies like Altrad Sparrows, NOV, Danos, Gulf Crane Services, or Chet Morrison—you\'ll feel right at home. This role focuses on designing, analyzing, and supporting offshore and industrial lifting equipment, including cranes, hoists, winches, lifting beams, spreader bars, and welded steel structures. You\'ll collaborate closely with fabrication shops, field technicians, and customer operations teams across the region. This is a remote role open to candidates located within the 48 contiguous United States, with occasional travel (at least 10%, approximately one week per quarter) to customer sites, fabrication facilities, or field locations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design for cranes, hoists, winches, and custom lifting systems
  • Develop 3D models, fabrication drawings, and weldment packages in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo
  • Perform load calculations, structural analysis, and FEA for lifting and handling equipment
  • Support load testing, commissioning, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Partner with fabrication shops in Houma and the Gulf Coast region to ensure manufacturability
  • Produce engineering documentation including work packs, test plans, and technical reports
  • Provide field support for troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment upgrades
  • Ensure compliance with API 2C, DNV, ABS, ASME B30.5, and other lifting standards
Must-Have Qualifications

  • Familiarity with API, DNV, ABS, or ASME B30.5 lifting standards
  • Ability to collaborate with fabrication, field, and inspection teams
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Ability to travel 10%
Bonus Experience
  • Offshore, industrial, or construction lifting background
  • Familiarity with gantry systems, winches, PLC-integrated equipment
  • Experience writing work packs, test plans, and field documentation

  • Prior work at Altrad Sparrows, NOV, Danos, Gulf Crane Services, Edison Chouest, or similar
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, winches, cylinders, or power units
  • Field commissioning or offshore mechanical experience
  • Experience writing work packs, test procedures, and lifting plans
  • Exposure to PLC-integrated mechanical systems
Work Environment
  • Fully remote (USA only)
  • Based in Houma, LA, with occasional travel to customer sites, fabrication shops, or offshore locations
