Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead large-scale mission-critical data center projects. You will design mechanical systems, guide clients on code compliance, and monitor installations to ensure safety and performance.

Expect collaborative teamwork across international practice areas and opportunities to develop project management skills. The role requires ABET-accredited degree(s), FE/PE credentials preferred, and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program with 7 years experience (EPC projects preferred).
• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from ABET accredited program with FE exam and 7 years EPC experience.
• Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6 years EPC experience preferred.
• Expert knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
• Strong communication skills, ability to lead discipline design and manage teams.
• Ability to travel.
• PE License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems/equipment for safe workplaces.
• Advise clients on mechanical system requirements and safety code compliance.
• Monitor installation to ensure design specs and safety codes are met.
• Develop design criteria for air and water side building systems.
• Review mechanical designs and equipment specifications.
• Develop concept studies and design work.
• Assist Project Managers with daily project execution tasks.
• Support contract administration: RFIs, submittals, change management, claims mitigation.
• Assist in project reporting on status, risks, schedule and cost.
