Job summary

EXP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for transit, transportation, and public infrastructure projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. You will mentor junior engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver high-quality results.

Required: PE license, BS in Mechanical Engineering, and 10+ years of experience; proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD; strong communication and project-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• PE license required; registration in DC/MD/VA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering design and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems from planning through construction.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, load analyses, and technical specifications.
• Perform equipment sizing and scheduling for airside and hydronic systems (chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs).
• Develop equipment room layouts and system concepts during planning and design phases.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Review codes and client requirements to ensure project compliance (NFPA, mechanical codes).
• QA/QC reviews of calculations, drawings, specs, and deliverables.
• Support project managers with scope, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Review submittals, RFIs, field investigations, and construction administration.
