Job summary

SYSTRA USA is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Seller/Doer) to lead MEP building systems for public-sector infrastructure in the Greater NYC area.

You will drive design for HVAC, plumbing and fire protection across new construction and major renovations, interfacing with NYCHA, SCA and MTA to secure new work. You will manage proposals, provide technical leadership, review documentation and coordinate with signals, traction power, structural and architecture teams.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
• Active PE license in NY and/or NJ with reciprocity ability.
• Minimum 10+ years in mechanical building systems design.
• Experience with NYC SCA/NYCHA/MTA and related guidelines.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), TRACE 3D Plus or HAP.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) design for complex infrastructure.
• Manage relationships with NYCHA, NYC SCA, MTA and regional agencies.
• Drive strategic pursuits, define scopes, and prepare proposals.
• Oversee design calculations, load modeling and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with codes.
